In Mexico, the dollar is an accepted currency for most shops and services. In some of the local shops though, you might receive change in the local currency, Peso. Be sure to check the exchange rate before!

US citizens do not currently need a passport to cross the Baja California border. Please bring a valid US driver's license or birth certificate. Non-US citizens need their passport or residency cards. Please check with the US and Mexican consulates.

The official currency in Mexico is the Peso, but the US Dollars are accepted throughout Baja California. If you need to exchange currency there are several banks and money exchange spots throughout Rosarito. Just look for the buildings that have the exchange rates on them. 

Yes, Rosarito does have ATM machines that dispense Peso or Dollars. If you would like there are also banks like Banamex and Bancomer that could do the same thing for you.

The legal drinking age is 18, most bars and nightclubs require some proof of age such as a valid driver's license or a passport. Drinking on the streets is against the city ordinance, fines will be applied! Drinking and driving are definitely against the law, offenders will land in jail and will be subject to large fines!

It is a criminal offense to use, possess or traffic illegal mind-altering drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, heroin, etc. Even the possession of a few grams can bring a jail sentence of 8 years or more! Legal medicinal mind-altering drugs require a medical prescription for purchase and use. 

Excellent medical care is readily available in Baja California. Ambulance and even helicopter transportation to the US is available as well. Most prescription drugs are available over the center at the local drug stores for 1/2 to 3/4 of the US prices.
